Succeed in Business: Meditate

An article in Fortune Magazine last month touts meditation as a business tool.  But we knew that, didn’t we!?

Keith Ferrazzi, author of Never Eat Alone (a wonderful book that reminds you to make human connection a business tool as well) addressed students from his alma mater, Harvard Business School.  Going beyond traditional business advice he encouraged meditation as critical for success.

Ryan Oliver, who wrote the Fortune piece, expands by citing business celebs known for the practice: Bob Shapiro of Monsanto, Mike Milken (junk-bond king), Bill George formerly of Medtronic, myriad Google employees and, of course, Ferrazzi himself.

Ferrazzi described meditation as helping one to get out of a hole.  To me it is more apt to say "rise above the hole so you can see it better as well as all the other holes in the vicinity."   And in this way meditation — or whatever body-grounding, meta-viewing practice you find — is essential for anyone who wants to do well at anything!   You need to find a way to see things from different perspectives and detach to see the bigger picture as you create your strategy for success.  Not to mention the wonderful energy and stress relief you can gain from such practices.

So whether you meditate, exercise, use executive-think time or find your own unique way to become present and grounded you may find it interesting to learn who else does it too.  Read the article here.
